MG3, the nightmare for European manufacturers
This page is translated from the original post "MG3, le cauchemar des constructeurs européens" in French.

MG will showcase its new MG3 at the Geneva Motor Show on February 26 and is expected to announce its launch in France.
If the MG Cyberster or the MG4 XPOWER can legitimately claim the British sporting heritage of MG, the brand now operating under the Chinese flag is experiencing a new life under the leadership of the Chinese automobile manufacturer SAIC Motor, based in Shanghai. One of its main offers worldwide is the hatchback MG3, which has won over many buyers due to its price. It has so far ignored France, a problem that will soon be remedied with the new generation.
The visual and the short video announcing the MG3 presentation at the Geneva Motor Show confirm the design seen in recent photos of prototypes that have been running for several months.

Under the hood, the MG3 will offer at least one hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 107 hp and an electric motor of 70 kW (94 hp). MG’s expertly developed technology is smartly designed for this urban and suburban vehicle.
MG has not made any official announcement regarding the pricing of its new weapon. If this new generation follows the path of the current MG3 offered at only £13,820 in the UK, then we could see a modern, high-quality hybrid priced at just 15,000 euros. It would then directly compete with the Dacia Sandero, which is cheaper but also more rugged. Above that, the MG3 targets the latest Renault Clio and Peugeot 208, which are priced closer to 20,000 euros!
No fully electric version is planned at this time, as the brand has a surprising model in its drawers. MG1 or MG2? We will tell you soon.
