MG also makes old Diesel models

MG took advantage of the recent Riyadh Motor Show to launch the market release of its new T60 pickup in the United Arab Emirates.

A new MG T60 vehicle? Not really, as it has been on sale since 2022 across a large part of the African continent, from Ivory Coast to Algeria! And if we take a closer look at this impressive truck with a bed, it’s impossible not to notice its resemblance to the Maxus Pickup launched in… 2016! This is fully intentional, as both share the same name T60 and Maxus, like MG, is part of the Chinese SAIC group.

One quick glance at the interior, which is notably devoid of any digital screens, would have already given you a hint.

But don’t be fooled, this pickup is a genuine global best-seller. As the first off-road utility vehicle produced by SAIC, it has sold nearly 100,000 units to date, notably in Australia, Chile, and Thailand. It was even offered in the UK for a time, albeit without much success, to be honest. Because this T60 has solid reasons to attract buyers.

It is available with two powertrain options: a 2.8-liter inline-four turbo-diesel engine and a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated inline-four gasoline engine. Available in two- or four-wheel drive and manual or automatic transmissions, it’s a true Swiss Army knife, measuring 5,365 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,809 mm in height, with a 3,155 mm wheelbase and 215 mm ground clearance.

Inside, as we mentioned, it’s straightforward, featuring a standard touchscreen, an audio system with just four speakers, and manual air conditioning. The gentle taste of the 1990s in a 21st-century vehicle, but who cares in the desert?

Because a vehicle’s playground is not the city or quiet country roads, but rather sand, rocks, and ruts! It’s an adventurer that doesn’t want to join the beaten paths, well aware that it shouldn’t even bother trying.

One last detail, its price. At just 20,000 euros, we challenge you to find a better deal.
