Mattel Declares War on Car Building Bricks to LEGO

Of course, Mattel relies on the iconic universe of Hot Wheels. This new range, launching this May, offers seven kits combining construction and collecting, with prices ranging from 25 to 140 euros.

Each set includes a mini metal model at a 1:64 scale, accompanied by bricks allowing you to build realistic vehicles. These cars, true to their proportions and details, can be customized with metal parts. This aspect sets Mattel’s offerings apart most from LEGO, as the Danish giant has always limited itself to good old plastic. A way to bring your favorite models to life while adding a unique touch.

For Every Budget

The range is divided into three categories: Speed, Elite, and Premium. The Speed series, at €24.99, features models at a 1:32 scale such as the Maserati MC20 and the Cadillac GTP Hypercar. The Elite series, at €49.99, offers more detailed cars like the Corvette Grand Sport and the Acura NSX, with additional accessories and high-quality finishes.

Finally, the Premium series, featuring the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL at €139.99, impresses with its level of detail, functional doors, and luxurious interior. Mattel even offers the possibility to customize the model in a sports version with a kit of stickers, sport spoilers, and lightweight rims… just like the real one! You might almost mistake it for a Playmobil model, given how meticulously the lines of the cars are preserved.

With its experience and many licenses, Mattel seems to have the means to challenge the market leader.
