Lamborghini Urus “Like a Bull in Zion”

Some privileged individuals were able to traverse the breathtaking landscapes of Zion National Park in their Lamborghini Urus.

The Lamborghini Esperienza Avventura Zion hosted Urus owners and their guests for an exclusive three-day event earlier this month. Located in the Southwestern part of Utah in the United States, Zion National Park is famous for its deep and spectacular canyons carved over millennia by the Virgin River, giving life to imposing cliffs of cream, pink, and red sandstone. Zion means “sanctuary” or “refuge” in ancient Hebrew.

On the first day, the guests arrived in their Urus S at the Zion Autocamp, a base camp where they could settle into authentic American Airstreams. The next day they took on the winding roads of Zion National Park for a journey of nearly 220 km. The large SUVs weaved between cliffs and coral pink sand dunes, and the drivers took some time to leave the wheel for a horseback ride through the canyons.

But is this serious?

Even though Lamborghini claims that the Esperienza Avventura Zion is an environmentally friendly program, one might reasonably question the impact of mechanical monsters weighing over 2 tons on such a fragile ecosystem. Of course, the vehicles never left the roadways, which makes the experience more of a gentle romp rather than a true raid. However, one cannot ignore the average consumption of the URUS S at 14.1 l/100 km and its CO2 emissions at 320 g/km in the WLTP mixed cycle. Urus and ecology certainly do not go hand in hand.

One can only find solace in thinking about the outrageous price each participant must have paid and the fee paid by Lamborghini. This money went directly into the park’s coffers to ensure its maintenance and protection. So a little deviation can be forgiven if it is for a good cause.
