The Most Powerful Porsche SUV of All Time Is Hybrid

The V8 Turbo E-Hybrid models are the new flagship of the Porsche Cayenne range.

After the grand launch of the new Cayenne in spring 2023, Porsche completes the third generation of its sporty SUV with the arrival of a very elite model. As before, the most powerful Cayenne in the lineup is a plug-in hybrid. The V8 block and the electric motor now develop a combined power of 739 hp (544 kW) and an enormous torque of 950 Nm. An electric motor with 176 hp (130 kW) complements the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces 599 hp (441 kW). The claimed performance already shatters all road restrictions with a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 3.7 seconds and a top speed (on track) of 295 km/h. Completely unreasonable or even inexcusable for an SUV, but not for a Porsche.

With an announced electric range of only 82 km, it is obvious that electrification is primarily for urban use, supporting the thermal engine during dynamic driving phases… and of course, it adds an eco-responsible badge to this model, which is not, but we won’t hold that against the German brand as it’s become common practice. Porsche is already thinking about the future with synthetic fuel that could give real meaning to maintaining a “fun” lineup.

A rather naughty rascal!

Porsche promises a dynamic driving experience for its new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid. With over 2.5 tons on the scale, the promise is ambitious, but the Stuttgart wizards have already proven with the Taycan how to overcome a weight handicap with nearly unmatched chassis and roll control systems. The new Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid models come standard with adaptive air suspension equipped with a new two-chamber, two-valve technology that allows for differentiated adjustment of the compression and rebound damping of the shock absorbers. This technology, which enhances both comfort and safety, offers a wider range of adjustment between Comfort and Sport Plus modes.

The Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) torque vectoring system is also standard on the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, while the active stabilization system (PDCC) and rear-wheel steering are available as options. Among optional features, the GT Pack allows the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe to accelerate to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 305 km/h. If you’re going to be a little naughty, might as well do it properly — after all! For the €30,000 including tax option, you’ll get a well-equipped aerodynamic pack with widened wheel arches, abundant carbon fiber, and a bit of titanium on the exhaust.

The new Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid is available to order starting today, but excellence naturally comes at a cost. The base price starts at €179,569 including tax in France, with the Coupe version starting at €183,049 including tax. The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid with the GT pack is offered from €212,417 including tax. Don’t worry—an entire range of expensive options, without which Porsche wouldn’t really be Porsche, will allow you to customize your car as you wish.
