Renault Espace 6: Discover its Interior (Video)

The iconic Renault Espace is making a comeback and will have a unique successor. It is indeed adopting the modified platform of the Renault Austral, designed to accommodate 7 passengers.

If you wish to buy the current Renault Espace, know that it is no longer in production, but a few units remain in stock. The fifth generation had a fairly discreet career despite its many qualities in comfort and modularity. It was indeed hindered by a somewhat difficult start to sales due to numerous reliability issues, which have been resolved since the 2020 facelift.

Despite this relative commercial failure, the Diamond Brand still believes in the future of the Espace, as demonstrated by this sixth generation, which will be unveiled to the public on March 28, 2023.

In the meantime, Renault reveals some new interior details. It will look very much like that of the Renault Austral SUV (read our review of the Renault Austral), but will differ (depending on the finishes) with its large panoramic glass roof. Based on the CMF-CD technical platform, it features an extended and more horizontal rear end, aiming to accommodate up to 7 passengers. Renault specifies that the wheelbase should increase by 7 cm, while the rear overhang gains 13 cm. Not only that, but the rear doors will be specific and larger to facilitate access, and a sliding second-row bench seat is planned.

The Hybrid Choice

Note that the 7 seats are not mandatory. Customers looking for a large trunk can opt for a Renault Espace 6 (5 seats), with trunk volume still not announced.

Under the hood, no surprises to note, as the flagship from Billancourt will be equipped with a 200 hp Full Hybrid engine, with a plug-in hybrid 280 hp version to follow later.

The Renault Espace 6 is scheduled to be launched sometime in summer 2023.
