Renault Austral 2023: the full Hybrid lineup and prices

The family SUV Renault Austral now has all the cards in hand to dethrone the Peugeot 3008. Here are its updated prices for the hybrid range.

It is one of the must-see highlights of the 2023 automotive season. While its predecessor, the Renault Kadjar, had a somewhat mixed career, its replacement, the Renault Austral, is reigniting customer interest in large SUVs with the diamond badge.

While awaiting the upcoming arrival of the Renault Espace 6, which will actually be an extended version of the Renault Austral, this model (which we recently tested on Mobiwisy in hybrid version) now offers a fairly complete lineup, whether with combustion or hybrid engines.

Powertrains of the Renault Austral 2023 Full Hybrid

At Mobiwisy, we’re putting aside light hybrid systems that have only a very slight impact on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The most environmentally friendly engine according to us is the 1.2 turbo gasoline, combined with two electric motors (50 kW combined power and 205 Nm) and a 2 kWh/400 Volt battery. An interesting combo, since during our previous test of the SUV with a combined 200 hp, we managed to consume 4.8 liters per 100 km while driving very calmly, or 6.8 liters on a mixed cycle. CO2 emissions remain limited to 109 grams per km, which exempts the Renault Austral from any tax penalties.

Prices of the Renault Austral 2023 Full Hybrid

The prices of the Renault Austral have increased at the start of the year, but it remains quite competitive when compared to a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid (starting at €44,500). However, it is noticeably more expensive than a Hyundai Tucson Hybrid (starting at €35,350) or a Kia Sportage Hybrid (starting at €39,190). The French model also offers a 3-year or 100,000 km warranty but must compete with its Korean rivals, which offer respectively 7 years or 150,000 km and 5 years or unlimited km for Kia and Hyundai.
