Mitsubishi Scenic or Renault Eclipse Cross?

Eclipse Scenic

Cousin technique of the Renault Scenic E-Tech, the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross electric aims for an aggressive price to attract buyers.

With this new Eclipse Cross reminiscent of the Renault Scenic, Mitsubishi returns to the compact electric SUV segment by relying heavily on technologies developed by Renault. The Japanese model is based on the AmpR Medium platform of the French group, just like… the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric! The two vehicles are also produced in Douai, in the North, at Renault’s ElectriCity hub.

Technically, the similarities are logically numerous: the same 87 kWh battery, the same 220 hp motor, and very close performance statistics. Mitsubishi announces up to 634 km of WLTP range for the long-range version, compared to 625 km for the Scenic E-Tech.

The price’s secret weapon

The real difference could therefore come from the pricing strategy. When orders opened at the end of 2025, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross electric was listed from 44,990 euros in the Invite+ trim with an 87 kWh battery, which is about 2,000 euros less than an equivalent Renault Scenic E-Tech.

Since then, Mitsubishi has strengthened its commercial offensive. The brand now advertises a price reduced to 35,590 euros thanks to a manufacturer’s discount combined with the CEE bonus. Depending on the aids that the customer may qualify for, the total advantage could even exceed 11,000 euros in some cases.

With comparable equipment, the Eclipse Cross could thus become one of the most competitive offerings in the family electric SUV segment produced in Europe. Moreover, Mitsubishi also highlights a warranty that can reach eight years or 160,000 kilometers on the vehicle and battery.

It remains to be seen whether this “cheaper cousin” strategy will be enough to convince buyers in the face of a Scenic E-Tech that is already well established in the European market.
