Here Is the (Not Exactly) New Skoda Octavia

Skoda Auto updates the sedan and wagon versions of its iconic Octavia. Gasoline, diesel, and a bit of hybrid.

No real revolution for this fourth generation of the Skoda Octavia, the Czech manufacturer’s best-selling model. The design evolves slightly, notably with the new grille replicated across all the new models introduced into the lineup. In addition to next-generation Matrix LED headlights, customers benefit from an upgraded standard equipment, including improved safety and assistance systems that enhance active and passive safety. It’s better, that’s all.

Along with new sustainable materials for seats, dashboard, and door panels, a 10-inch digital screen is now offered as standard on certain model variants. A 13-inch infotainment screen is available as an option for the first time on the Octavia.

The AI-based ChatGPT chatbot will be integrated as standard into the Laura voice assistant in late 2024. The integration of ChatGPT into Laura’s voice assistant brings new possibilities that go far beyond previous voice commands.

The smart parking assistance and remote parking aid also make their debut in the Octavia. The range of engines consists of two 1.5 TSI gasoline engines available with micro-hybrid technology, two more powerful 2.0 TSI gasoline engines, and two diesel engines. Power outputs range from 85 kW (116 hp) to 195 kW (265 hp).

Two shy lightly electrified versions seem a bit lost in the lineup. Proof, if needed, that this is a facelift and not a truly new generation capable of accommodating a wide range of electrified or 100% electric powertrains. So we will patiently wait for the real new model.
