Fiat 500 Hybrid: We Know Its Release Date, Be Patient…

The Fiat 500 Hybrid has just been officially confirmed by the Italian manufacturer, which is also releasing other information.

Fiat is pulling out all the stops to reinforce its Italian identity after facing several setbacks, particularly with its cousin Alfa Romeo, which had to rename its future vehicle Junior. During a visit to the Mirafiori plant in Turin, the brand’s head (the French Olivier François) emphasized that 70% of Fiats sold in Italy were produced in the country.

This same Mirafiori plant, which is already the production site for the Fiat 500e, will welcome the future lightweight hybrid version, which is also now known by name: Fiat 500 Hybrid.

Not for sale before 2026!

The big news concerns the sales date for this Fiat 500 Hybrid: between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026. It is rather this latter option that is likely, as development, homologation, and updating of industrial tools require a long time.

Fiat aims to cement the “Italian-ness” of its production, with a thermal engine coming from the Stellantis factory in Termoli, while the Naples factory will provide the entire exhaust system. Finally, the gearbox will be assembled on-site in Mirafiori.

This long wait obviously raises the question of commercial relevance. While the current Fiat 500e is indeed very attractive, it will already be over 6 years old by the time the Hybrid version arrives. All indications suggest that this hybrid powertrain will be accompanied by an aesthetic update both inside and out.
