Dacia Bigster 7-seater: Here’s why it’s not planned

Many hope for it, some believe it firmly, but the Dacia Bigster should not be offered in a 7-seater version.

With its larger size and more upscale positioning, the Dacia Bigster had everything to appeal to large families. Bigger than a Duster, more prestigious, more modern… That was enough to envision a 7-seater version capable of competing with family SUVs on the market. But at Dacia, decisions are never made on a mere trend.

Yes, the idea of a 5+2 Bigster was considered. Adding two foldable seats in the trunk seemed logical on paper. In reality, it was more complicated.

The SUV is based on the CMF-B platform of the Renault group. A modern and profitable base, but not designed to easily accommodate a third row. Integrating two additional seats would have required significant structural modifications, resulting in more weight, higher costs… and consequently a higher final price. However, Dacia’s DNA remains unchanged: to offer the essentials at the right price.

A question of balance in the range

There is also a point that is often overlooked: Dacia already sells a 7-seater. And not just any 7-seater. The Dacia Jogger is now one of the most rational models on the market for large families. Spacious, modular and financially accessible, it perfectly fulfills this role. Launching a 7-seater Bigster would have created unnecessary internal competition, risking to blur the message.

The Bigster is aimed at families who want more trunk space, more comfort, and a more prestigious presentation, without necessarily needing seven seats. It moves upmarket, but remains true to the pragmatic philosophy of the brand.

In short, the absence of a Dacia Bigster 7-seater is neither an oversight nor a renunciation. It is a thoughtful choice. At Dacia, each model has its mission – and to transport seven passengers, the Jogger remains the designated candidate.
