The upcoming hybrid Corvette accidentally revealed -

Chevrolet accidentally revealed its new hybrid Corvette. The Corvette E Ray 2024 hybrid is expected to be released by summer 2023 with a regenerative braking system.

Chevrolet offered a first glimpse of its first hybrid Corvette. General Motors briefly made the Corvette E Ray 2024 hybrid available through the manufacturer’s online visualization tool. The design features the wide chassis of the C8 Z06 with the exhaust pipes of the conventional model. For the rest, there are some minor modifications, such as new colors and specific wheels. The biggest changes are inside the vehicle.

Chevrolet adds regenerative braking

The E-Ray is believed to be equipped with the V8 LT2 engine from the conventional Corvette C8 launched in 2020. Several reports suggested that the new Corvette would utilize an electric motor on the front axle to offer all-wheel drive. The beast could develop a combined 605 horsepower. The lack of a recharge port suggests that it is a conventional hybrid rather than a plug-in, although an interior image shows the “ReGen on Demand” button for controlling regenerative braking.

Inside the cabin, the “ReGen on Demand” button would allow the braking system to capture energy produced during braking and recircuit it to recharge the batteries. It is also known as “one-pedal Driving.” It enables the driver to brake without using the brake pedal in electric mode, as it is activated as soon as the accelerator pedal is released. Another button has been identified as an “auto start/stop” button. This means the engine shuts off when the car is parked, then restarts when you release the brake. However, the sound of the exhaust that occurs each time the car restarts should be fun.

This blunder by General Motors reveals nothing about the options offered by this car. There will also be the possibility to choose painted rims and visible carbon fiber rims. Regarding wheel models, there are four aluminum wheels with 5 spokes and three carbon fiber models. Chevrolet seems to offer 13 exterior colors, including three new ones and four that are discontinued. The upcoming colors are Riptide Blue Metallic, Cacti, Sea-Wolf Gray Tri-Coat. The metallic black flash color of the 70th Anniversary remains available.

Release in Summer 2023

Chevrolet also quickly confirmed the existence of this E-Ray to CorvetteBlogger, stating in a release that “Christmas has come early.” The E-RAY model might have an optional ZER package, but we have no idea what it will include. No mention of the price of the beast, but the visualization tool explained that the hybrid will arrive in summer 2023. The brand previously announced a launch next year, giving a very broad window.

This Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will mark the beginning of a wide initiative by the brand to electrify its iconic sports cars. A 100% electric Corvette is currently in development. According to the brand, new hybrids are expected to appear soon in the catalog (an 800-horsepower ZR1 in 2024 and a 1,000-horsepower Zora in 2025).
