Audi A5: Still Diesel and Now a Station Wagon
This page is translated from the original post "Audi A5, toujours diesel et désormais break" in French.

For its fourth generation, the Audi A5 benefits from a deep update and an expanded range with the introduction of an estate version.
Launched in 2007, the Audi A5 was the coupe version of the A4 sedan, but Audi has since decided to separate its lineup into even and odd categories. The multiples of two now represent the electric category while the A3, A5, and A7 maintain internal combustion, hybrid or not. Thus, the Audi A4 becomes the A5 with a complete range that extends from the sedan to the Avant estate.

With a length of 4,829 mm for both the A5 and the A5 Avant, the 2024 model gains 67 mm in length and boasts a record wheelbase of 2,900 mm thanks to reduced overhangs. This model can easily be classified between the A4 and the latest generation A6. A small novelty in the sedan with, at last, the abandonment of the trunk lid, which makes way for a hatchback, a true fifth door that considerably eases access to the trunk. Tesla could have thought of this for its Model 3…
Elegant and well equipped, a true Audi
The equipment increases in line with the dimensions, including wireless phone charging and an electric trunk opening and closing as standard. As is customary at Audi, the options list is endless, including a third passenger screen of 10.9 inches or the panoramic roof with segmented blackout.

The new A5 is built on the versatile Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), capable of accommodating both thermal and hybrid powertrains. The A5 maximizes these possibilities, ranging from the entry-level 150 hp gasoline engine to the sporty hybrid variant S5 with 367 hp. Audi has chosen mild hybridization with 48V to give a little boost to acceleration and, of course, to reduce CO2 emissions. Goodbye incentives, hello pleasure! We have lost the habit of this often criticized engine, but Audi has opted to offer a 2.0 TDI diesel of 204 hp, which will reassure heavy users who love the brand with the rings. With a penalty of only 210 euros thanks to contained emissions. Paradoxically, that is much less than the gasoline versions penalized by over 2,000 euros!
Orders are already open in France starting July 2024. While we do not yet know the price range, we do know it will start around 45,000 euros.
