Here is Brad Pitt’s new Mercedes

With the Mercedes AMG GT “APXGP Edition”, the star brand draws a line between cinema and Formula 1.

Seeing a serious brand like Mercedes offer a car paying homage to a virtual Formula 1 team is certainly quite delightful. The world of Formula 1 transitions from the track to the big screen with the new film F1 by Apple Original Films, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Brad Pitt and Damson Idris portray two drivers from the fictional team APXGP in a story where rivalry and overtakes intertwine, filmed during real Grand Prix races.

To mark this event, Mercedes-AMG unveils a very special edition of its GT: the “APXGP Edition”, limited to only 52 units. Inspired by the APXGP team from the film, this exclusive version features a special paint with hand-applied gold details, 21-inch forged AMG wheels in matte gold, and a luxurious Nappa leather interior with gold accents on the seats, steering wheel, and decorative elements. This black-on-black combination recalls the magic hours of a very real team, Lotus. It’s not subtle, not necessarily in the best taste, but it merits recognition for its originality.

A true Hollywood star

In terms of performance, this edition is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo AMG V8 engine developing 585 horsepower. It is equipped with advanced technologies such as active suspension, rear-wheel steering, and optimized aerodynamics to deliver dynamic handling while remaining suitable for daily use.

Mercedes-AMG also contributed to the filming by providing iconic vehicles such as the SL, the G-Class, and the GT, as well as the official FIA safety and medical cars. A global campaign will accompany the film’s release in June 2025, connecting the worlds of cinema and automobiles.

The “APXGP Edition” is positioned as a rare piece, celebrating the fusion between motorsport and cinematic imagination. With its meticulous finishes, powerful engine, and design elements inspired by racing, it will appeal to both car enthusiasts and Formula 1 fans.
