Here is the cheapest new BMW at the moment (June 2025)

Starting at €36,050, the BMW 116 is currently enjoying significant discounts from dealers. Interesting?

Is the increasingly divisive design of the BMW Series 1 a success? Commercially, it’s hard to judge since sales are declining. The situation is complicated, company policies regarding company cars have evolved significantly, and the trend is moving away from compacts.

Renewed in June 2024 and marketed since November 2024, the BMW Series 1 now carries the code name F70. Like its predecessor, it has remained faithful – despite the criticism – to a front-wheel-drive configuration. The entry-level version in focus here, the 116i, also opts for a very modest engine block. It’s a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder producing 122 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque.

For daily driving, it’s perfect. For the big thrills, however…

As stated at the beginning, the current starting price in the catalog for the BMW Series 1 F70 is therefore €36,050, with black being the complimentary color. The white version presented here on the discounted model costs an additional €300.

It’s worth noting that from the start, the BMW 116i benefits from a dual-clutch automatic transmission, providing unmatched comfort and efficiency. Nonetheless, beware of the 2025 ecological tax. With 135 g of CO2 emitted per kilometer, the amount of this tax rises to €540! This is enough to raise the discounted price from €31,290 to €31,830.

Nevertheless, this remains much more affordable than the direct German premium competitors, starting with the Audi A3, which starts at €34,600 plus a similar ecological tax of €540. That brings it to €35,140.

A lingering question remains: will the price make you fall for a car whose design, if it didn’t bear the propeller logo of BMW, could be that of a Chinese or Asian rival lacking in charm?
