Ford Tourneo Courier, a battery-less ludospace

Modular and connected Ludospace, the Tourneo targets a young and trendy clientele despite the regrettable absence of electric powertrain. With an entry price below 25,000 euros, the gamble is still viable.

We immediately imagine the charming little vehicle plugged into a charging station or powering an electric grill while its happy owners enjoy paddleboarding on a beautiful pond. Well, that’s a miss, at least for now!

The New Tourneo Courier is available only with a combustion engine at launch, with two engine options: the 1.0 EcoBoost 125 hp Powershift and the 1.0 EcoBoost 125 hp 6-speed manual. A 100% electric version is indeed planned, but you’ll have to wait until the end of 2024 to see it in dealerships.

It’s a pity because the core target audience is certainly not interested in combustion engines, and the vehicle doesn’t lack appeal with its five-door body, five spacious seats, and a versatile length of 4.34m. A multitude of clever small storage spaces and an optimized trunk layout, the New Tourneo Courier also benefits from an attractive standard equipment package, including SYNC IV and a range of driver assistance systems making daily trips easier. It is also fully connected thanks to FordPass Connect (built-in modem) and the FordPass app, notably featuring eCall. The vehicle will be available in three trims: Trend, Titanium, and Active.

The range starts with a manual transmission and Trend trim at 24,600 euros and goes up to 29,340 euros for the Active trim with automatic transmission. The pricing structure is clear and straightforward, a good point against a competitive landscape featuring Citroën Berlingo XL, Peugeot Rifter, and others Renault Kangoo and Grand Kangoo.

The Tourneo Courier will be produced at the ultra-modern Craiova plant in Romania starting October 23, 2023, with first deliveries scheduled from January 2024.
