Flavio Briatore destroys Range Rover on Instagram

When Flavio Briatore engages with his Instagram community, it’s always quite a show. On the menu: luxury and mechanical frustrations.

There’s everything on social media, but you can be sure you won’t be disappointed when it involves someone like Flavio Briatore, flamboyant businessman and now head of Alpine F1. Imagine this colorful character, used to juggling millions, complaining like an ordinary citizen about his finicky car. Except, of course, the amounts involved for him are dizzying.

On Instagram, Briatore shared his anger against the British brand Range Rover. With a tone that oscillated between rage and resignation, he recounted his misadventures. First, there was the Range Rover Sport, purchased in 2020. A real jewel on the outside, but apparently with a diva’s soul. “In four years, it cost me 30,000 euros in repairs”, he laments. The culprit? A mysterious “flap” problem, or more likely a DPF problem, never resolved.

Probably thinking that love deserved a second chance, Briatore dove back in 2024 with a new model. Bad idea. Just two days after buying it, the beautiful English car decided to go on strike. Mechanic’s verdict: a failing transformer. But, of course, no spare parts in stock. “I’ve been waiting for two months!”, he pounds. And he concludes: “Be careful with what you buy. These cars cost a lot, and assistance is non-existent.”

Admit that seeing Briatore, the ultimate jet-setter, face the troubles of a simple unhappy customer, is somewhat satisfying. After all, his “small problems” costing €30,000 are worlds apart from our everyday struggles. But whether in Monaco or around your corner, a car that breaks down is still a broken-down car. Not sure Range Rover will come out unscathed from this very special publicity stunt.
