Do you like this electric Volkswagen? Forget it quickly!

While in Europe we have to settle for aging ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5, Volkswagen is launching an amazing model in China.

Volkswagen has just unveiled a first glimpse of the ID.UNYX. This SUV, which uses the technical base of the CUPRA Tavascan, is the first model of Volkswagen’s new ID.UX series, which will include four other electric vehicles by 2027. The new ID.UNYX will be produced by Volkswagen Anhui, the German automaker’s joint venture with the Chinese group JAC.

The ID.UNYX measures 4,660 mm long, 1,860 mm wide, and 1,600 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. The overall shape is logically very similar to that of the Tavascan, but Volkswagen has added its own touch to integrate it into the VW ID family. If you dislike the convoluted look of the Tavascan, you will appreciate this design. We certainly do, as the subtle touch added to the line is a real success.

The best of electric by Volkswagen?

The ID.UNYX receives a 82.4 kWh battery supplied by CATL, one of the most efficient and reliable blocks on the market. The range should easily exceed 600 km or at least approach that mark. The entry-level models come with a rear-mounted electric motor with a power of 225 hp, and the dual-motor configurations add a 105 hp motor at the front, resulting in a combined power of 330 hp with all-wheel drive.

This attractive SUV with an enticing technical specification will hit the Chinese market in the coming weeks. While its price has not yet been announced, do not even try to find out. Not only will you be disappointed when comparing it to the prices of European models, but it is also unlikely that the ID.UNYX and future models in the ID.UX family will be sold outside of China. A decision that will likely be reinforced by the latest customs fee measures announced by Brussels. It’s not fair, but what can you do…
