Xiaomi Vision GT: The Electric Car That Will Drive Gamers Crazy!
Xiaomi becomes the first Chinese brand to join the prestigious Vision GT program of the Gran Turismo series.
Following its collaboration with Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment, Xiaomi unveiled the Vision GT, a virtual prototype for Gran Turismo 7 on PlayStation. Invited by Kazunori Yamauchi, the series producer, the tech giant becomes the 36th brand to contribute to this collection of dream cars, marking the 51st prototype vehicle.
This wind-sculpted electric concept features a teardrop-shaped cockpit integrated into an active aerodynamic body. Its halo rear light serves as a visual icon and an imposing air outlet. With an active drag control system and additional wheels, it achieves a drag coefficient of 0.29, a downforce of -1.2, and an aerodynamic efficiency of 4.1. Iterative simulations have balanced low drag for straight lines and high downforce for corners, impressing Yamauchi: “When I saw that Xiaomi had solved the contradiction between low drag and high downforce, I was really surprised.”
Just like a real one!
Inside, this “couch racing” concept offers a harmonious and enveloping dashboard, with smart features like Xiaomi Pulse, which interacts through light and sound for an immersive experience. Integrated into the “Human x Car x Home” ecosystem, it detects the driver’s state and adapts to their mood, transforming the car into an intuitive companion.
Recently, a mysterious prototype was spotted in Spain, confirming rumors of a physical model displayed at Xiaomi’s booth at the MWC in Barcelona. With a claimed power of 1900 hp (1417 kW) on a 900V platform, this Vision GT outperforms competitors like the Ferrari Vision GT (1337 hp). Although it has no future in large-scale production, it will soon be playable in GT7, extending the virtual success, and especially the real success of the SU7 Ultra at Nürburgring.
