Xiaomi Breaks Tesla’s Sales Records!

To judge an outsider, it is essential to compare them to the leader. Backed by figures, it is clear that Xiaomi is breaking records.

The Xiaomi SU7, the Chinese brand’s first electric sedan, boasts a meteoric success with over 150,000 units delivered to date, according to Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi. In 2024, sales already reached 139,547 units, with a notable peak of 25,815 deliveries in December. This promising start makes Xiaomi a player to watch in the electric vehicle market.

For comparison, the Tesla Model Y, one of Tesla’s biggest successes, recorded about 79,000 deliveries in its first year in 2020. Let’s remember that Xiaomi is starting from zero, whereas Tesla already had a mature and well-established production capacity with the Model S, X, and especially 3! Although Xiaomi focuses on the Chinese market, it demonstrates an ability to meet significant demand, with waiting times reduced to 20 weeks. This quick market response confirms its potential to establish itself in the sector.

Xiaomi is moving fast, very fast!

Since its launch in March 2024, the SU7 has stood out due to high demand, achieving an ambitious annual sales target. Xiaomi plans to double these figures in 2025 with a goal of 300,000 units delivered. Additionally, the brand is diversifying its lineup by preparing an SUV model, the YU7, expected for mid-2025, and a high-performance version of the SU7 planned for March of the same year.

Despite this success in China, Xiaomi has not yet announced a timeline for commercialization in Europe. However, the presentation of the SU7 in France at the end of 2024 suggests a growing interest in the European market. This symbolic gesture, accompanied by a possible expansion strategy, could lay the groundwork for a notable Xiaomi entry onto the Old Continent.
