What if Opel is preparing a nice surprise for us in 2025?

This visual celebrating Opel’s 125 years caught our attention with the presence of a concept from 2021.
In May 2021, Opel unveiled its first ElektroMOD. A model that was intended to preview a series of modern reinterpretations of the brand’s greatest classics. It was about the revival of a model disappeared in 1988, the Opel Manta! More than 50 years after its launch, the Opel Manta returned to the spotlight in a cutting-edge electric version. The Manta GSe ElektroMOD embodied both vintage charm and the promise of sustainable mobility.

The Opel Manta, introduced in 1970, made history as a popular sports coupe. Inspired by American muscle cars, it offered a sleek design and dynamic driving experience. By resurrecting this icon from the 1970s-1980s, Opel presented much more than a simple homage; it was a car ready to hit the road with its 147 hp (108 kW) electric motor and a 31 kWh battery offering a range of 200 kilometers. These figures make us smile four years later, but at the time, it was quite impressive.

But beyond its technical specifications, it’s the style that captivated us. The Manta GSe ElektroMOD featured a bright yellow body contrasted by a black hood. The 17-inch Ronal wheels added a modern touch, while the Pixel-Vizor grille gave the Manta a unique ability to communicate with its environment. The interior was just as impressive with a dashboard inspired by the original model, with analog instruments reimagined as modern screens. The sports seats and retro steering wheel created a perfect blend of comfort, style, and nostalgia.

Opel had a car that had everything to appeal, and for us, it was urgent to see this marvel produced in series… which never happened. So why are we seeing this car alongside current models today? We still believe it would have been perfectly at home on the road, like a certain Renault 5. At Opel, one motto: boldness, more boldness, always boldness!
