Volvo finally announces the EX30 Cross Country!

Unveiled as a concept car in 2023, set for commercial release in 2024, the rugged version of the Volvo EX30 is finally here!

The Volvo EX30 is the vehicle that allowed the Sino-Swedish manufacturer to make one of the most remarkable comebacks in the automotive industry in recent years. The announcement in 2023 of a rugged version, the very charming Cross Country, generated a lot of buzz, but for the past two years, there has been no news, no images. Despite the enthusiastic media reception, Volvo had promised to consider its commercialization for 2024.

It’s a shame, because its highly designed look with a raised ground clearance, 19-inch black alloy wheels, protection plates at the front, rear, and sides, was impressive. Mechanically, Volvo announced a power of 315 kW (428 horsepower), ensuring acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds.

Everything suggested that the idea had been forgotten, but Volvo has announced its presentation on February 10th in an unprecedented setting! Here’s the promise: “You think you know what a world premiere car presentation looks like? You’ll think twice about that.” If that’s not teasing! Volvo plans to take us on a journey through Swedish Lapland during a live online presentation.

Of course, Cross Country implies all-wheel drive, and Volvo will certainly take advantage of this version to integrate it into the catalog. But it’s not even certain that the vehicle will come with an entry-level all-wheel drive. One can easily imagine an “urban” version with two-wheel drive, reasonable power, and the current Single Motor version’s range of 337 km. A nice off-road appearance would be enough to ensure a great success among the audience fond of these somewhat cheeky SUVs. This would allow for an attractive price tag of under 50,000 euros since the current entry-level Start is priced at 39,100 euros.
