Video: A Famous Brazilian Driver Thrills on Ice Behind the Wheel of a CUPRA Tavascan

The Formula E driver and CUPRA ambassador, Lucas di Grassi, treated himself to a little ice driving session behind the wheel of the Tavascan.

But what can a Brazilian driver and a Spanish electric CUPRA do under the Arctic Circle? Testing, as Swedish Lapland has become a must-visit destination for testing new models in extreme conditions. Let’s be honest, it’s also an opportunity to have some fun safely and capture beautiful images.

The Tavascan is the latest model to hit the frozen tracks of Northern Europe, with a top driver at the wheel, Lucas di Grassi, driver for the ABT CUPRA team in Formula E. The brand ambassador was able to experience the sensations and emotions that CUPRA’s 100% electric SUV offers on the snowy circuits of Lapland.

“I have driven all over the world for many years, but this is the first time I am driving in such extreme freezing conditions,” the driver expressed joyfully. “The car offers amazing responsiveness. I love the CUPRA Tavascan! It is very precise and agile; it is an incredible car to drive.”

 The CUPRA Tavascan has been subjected to severe climatic conditions in a region where temperatures can drop below -35°C. Challenging conditions that allow CUPRA engineers to assess the performance of the brand’s first 100% electric SUV. Lucas di Grassi helped them carry out several tests, starting with the braking test on a surface that combines asphalt and ice, to assess the car’s grip and control.
