Vanwall Vandervell: Is It Really Serious?

Vanwall passionately announces that a new step in its Vandervell project has been taken… with the choice of colors.

Vanwall unveiled its first road-legal model earlier this year, available in two versions: Vandervell S and Vandervell S Plus. The name of the car pays tribute to Tony Vandervell, the British industrialist who founded the brand in 1951.

The mood was then one of celebration and sparkle, as the brand had just received confirmation of Floyd Vanwall Racing Team’s commitment to the 2023 World Endurance Championship and consequently its entry into the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We will spare you the details, but the racing car proved to be an absolute disaster, unable to keep pace with the top contenders Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche, and even Peugeot, which decided to omit a rear wing. Worse still, the car repeatedly lost body parts on the track, a sign of technology and level of preparation close to unacceptable.

The climax was on May 25, 2023, when the team announced the replacement of its star driver Jacques Villeneuve with Tristan Vautier for the Centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. An announcement that surprised everyone, including the Canadian driver. Shocked world champion F11997 could only confirm that he would never race for the Austrian team again.

Ten months after announcing their road car project, Vanwall returns with the same Vandervell concept photo, but this time with a nice variety of six colors.

This sedan is still announced in two versions with different technical specifications:

• Vandervell S, four-wheel drive, 320 hp, combined range of about 450 km, top speed 185 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds
• Vandervell S Plus, four-wheel drive, 580 hp, combined range of about 420 km, top speed 265 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds

The S and S Plus were supposed to be marketed through direct sales and distributed by partners, with deliveries starting from the third quarter of 2023. No news from the partners, and it seems that we are somewhat behind schedule.

Maybe it’s time to shift gears or, more wisely, to move on to something else!
