For less than €25,000, the ID. Polo carries a heavy legacy
With the ID. Polo, Volkswagen transforms one of its most iconic models into an accessible 100% electric city car.
Volkswagen enters a new phase of its electric offensive with the official presentation of the new ID. Polo. As a direct descendant of one of Europe’s most popular city cars, the electric Polo aims to make zero-emission mobility more accessible with a starting price of €24,995.

With over 20 million units sold since its launch, the Polo is a strategic model for the German brand. Its transition to 100% electric thus marks an important step for Volkswagen, which aims to strengthen its presence in the market for affordable compact electric cars.
Up to 455 km of range for the Volkswagen ID. Polo
Built on the MEB+ platform, the Volkswagen ID. Polo adopts a new architecture with front-wheel electric drive. Despite its compact dimensions of 4.05 meters long, the manufacturer promises optimized space and a trunk of 441 liters, which is larger than that of the thermal Polo.
The range will consist of three powertrains:
- 116 hp (85 kW)
- 135 hp (99 kW)
- 211 hp (155 kW)
Two battery options will be offered. The entry-level and mid-range versions use a 37 kWh LFP battery, providing up to 329 km of WLTP range. The most powerful version is equipped with a 52 kWh NMC battery, allowing for up to 455 km of WLTP range.

Volkswagen also announces efficient fast charging, going from 10% to 80% in about 23 to 24 minutes on DC fast chargers.
A very technological electric city car
The new ID. Polo emphasizes technological equipment. From the entry-level model, the electric city car includes a 10-inch digital cluster, a 13-inch touchscreen, and several driver assistance features.
Volkswagen also reintroduces physical controls for certain essential functions, a choice aimed at improving everyday ergonomics.
Among the notable equipment:
- semi-autonomous “Travel Assist” system
- traffic sign recognition
- “One Pedal” driving
- Vehicle-to-Load function to power external electrical devices
- IQ.LIGHT matrix LED headlights on high-end versions
- A more understated design with a clear heritage
With this ID. Polo, Volkswagen also introduces its new design language called “Pure Positive”. The lines remain intentionally simple and timeless to preserve the model’s historical visual identity.
The manufacturer even claims several nods to the first-generation Golf, particularly in the design of the rear quarter window.
