For compact and family electric models, what can you get for less than 400 euros a month? That’s the question we asked ourselves, including the Megane E-Tech and ID.3 compact models we tested, the 2022 Car of the Year Kia EV6, and the new Citroën ë-C4 X. We also include the Tesla Model 3, the only lease-to-own option in the group, but one worth considering now that it includes the ecological bonus. Here is our selection.

Tesla Model 3: Sedan lease-to-own at €389/month

The one that was the top-selling electric car in France still maintains a very aggressive price. This is the observation despite its increase since last year, and even after the drastic cut in January 2023. The Tesla Model 3 does not fully offset the price hikes of 2022.

However, it’s possible to keep the lease-to-own price at €389/month for a 36-month, 30,000 km contract on the base Propulsion model. An initial payment of at least €11,500 is required, which is €6,500 after the bonus is deducted. With this, you gain access to a family sedan with over 500 kilometers of WLTP range!

Renault Megane E-Tech: the best compact in long-term rental from €376/month

New for 2022, the Megane E-Tech has shaken up the market by becoming the fourth best-selling electric vehicle in France. Its impressive features have won over consumers, with a well-controlled price that also translates into leasing offers.

The lease offer is, for example, €376 for the long-range EV60 version with Techno finish, offering 438 km of autonomy. This is for a 36 months/30,000 km contract, with an initial payment of €11,500, reduced to €6,500 after the ecological bonus.

Citroën ë-C4 X: the SUV that hits the mark at €359/month

One of the new electric cars introduced at the start of 2023, now with available long-term leasing. The 4.60-meter-high sedan, the Citroën ë-C4 X, keeps the 100 kW motor of the standard C4 and its Stellantis cousins.

It also features a 50 kWh battery for 360 km of range per charge. Available from €359/month on the entry-level Feel trim. This lease is possible over 48 months, excluding a gross initial payment of €9,500, or €4,500 after subtracting the bonus.

Kia EV6: the charming Korean in long-term rental from €357/month

Not the best-seller, but named the Car of the Year 2022 by a jury of European journalists. The Kia EV6 is a distinctive electric vehicle, blending station wagon, sedan, and crossover styles in a length of 4.68 meters.

For a family car, it’s adequate, with a 480-liter rear trunk and a small front trunk of 52 liters. Its base two-wheel-drive model with 170 hp, in Air trim, starts at €357/month, excluding the down payment. The down payment is €13,900, or €8,900 after the bonus is deducted. However, this requires a unique 37-month, 45,000 km contract to take advantage of it.

Volkswagen ID.3: the zingy Chinese in long-term rental from €249/month

Soon to be refreshed and updated, the Volkswagen ID.3 aims to return to the Top 10 best-selling electric cars with a current lease offer. The German compact, similar in size to the MG4 or Megane, presents its Pro Performance variant with a 58 kWh battery and 425 km range.

With a power of 150 kW, this vehicle’s monthly rent is €349 for a standard 36-month, 30,000 km contract. The down payment here is €11,500, or €6,500 after the bonus deduction.
