To Save Tesla, Elon Musk is Ready to Leave Donald Trump

Elon Musk declares he is ready to reduce his involvement in American government affairs to focus on Tesla.

Following the release of very poor first-quarter 2025 results, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced that he will significantly reduce “the time dedicated to the Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), which President Donald Trump entrusted to him. He specified that this decision will allow him to refocus his efforts on Tesla and its recently undermined strategic projects.

“Fighting waste and fraud to get the country back on track remains essential,” Musk stated. However, starting in May, his involvement in government affairs will be limited to one or two days a week, leaving the rest of his schedule to Tesla.

This news marks a turning point for the company, as Musk plans to accelerate the launch of several major projects. Among them are the Cybercab, a robotaxi platform based in Austin, as well as a more affordable Model Y initially scheduled for the first half of the year, but whose launch has been delayed.

However, Musk clarified that he will continue to collaborate with the DOGE until the end of Donald Trump’s term as president, but in a less central role. This decision has reassured Tesla investors and analysts, who were concerned about the potential repercussions of his involvement in government affairs.
