This Yamaha golf cart is road-legal

Talking about a Golf cart for the Yamaha UMQ is certainly a bit exaggerated, but not entirely false as it shares the same DNA.

This is a partnership between Yamaha and Quaddy, the Italian quad specialist, which brought this quirky machine to life. Complying with all European regulatory requirements, it falls into the category of light utility vehicles and can therefore travel on public roads. With its large cargo bed at the back, it is primarily a utility vehicle that is discreet, quiet, and efficient thanks to its 100% electric motorization.

With a 5.0 kW motor, it’s certainly not a powerhouse, but it’s designed to be easy to plug in and charge. Yamaha envisioned it as an effective utility vehicle that won’t disturb the tranquility of residents in a park, a residential area, a campsite, or of course… a golf course! Half-golf cart, half-utility vehicle, I apologize for repeatedly returning to the little white ball, but it feels so tailored for that purpose!

The interior of the UMQ, strictly two-seater, features a central console and a practical flat floor. The variable-rate suspension and wide 22-inch tires have been completely redesigned to handle both lawns and poorly maintained roads or paths. In winter or simply in case of rain, the cabin can be fully or partially closed for increased comfort.

Expect to pay around 22,000 euros to equip yourself with one from Yamaha. That’s half the price of a Polaris Kinetic, but the performance, of course, is not the same…
