Skoda 110 R

The legendary Skoda 110 R gets a futuristic and electric version thanks to the “Icons Get a Makeover” series.

What if the iconic Skoda 110 R coupe was reborn today in an electric and futuristic version? Discover the concept imagined by Skoda Design, a tribute to the brand’s legends… but which remains for now a digital dream.

Would the Skoda 110 R, this iconic coupe from the 1970s, have appealed to a new generation of drivers? In the spirit of Skoda Design, the answer is yes… but only in the virtual world. Designer Richard Svec conceived a radical reinterpretation of the “Erko,” respecting the sporty heritage while adopting the contemporary Modern Solid language of the brand.

“I wanted to create something completely new, without falling into retro,” explains Richard. “The challenge was to capture the spirit of the 110 R while proposing a modern and innovative coupe.” Mission accomplished: geometric proportions, sleek surfaces, and subtle details reminiscent of the original blend with an elegant and futuristic silhouette.

Skoda Highlights Its Heritage

This concept retains a nod to the past: widened wheel arches, an interior cage, central locking wheels, and ribs on the front hood inspired by the legendary 130 RS. But the rest is clearly from the future. The old mechanical parts are replaced with an electric powertrain, with functional air intakes for cooling the batteries. Traditional mirrors are replaced by cameras, and the headlights are concealed behind sliding covers.

Even the lighting has been given a modern touch: the Tech-loop light signatures, introduced on the Vision O concept, replace the traditional round headlights and rectangular taillights. The Skoda logo lights up on the front, rear, and even on the wheels, confirming the attention to detail.

Initially created on paper and then refined digitally in 3D, this concept proves that designers’ passion for heritage can translate into captivating visions… even if they will never hit the road. For Skoda, the “Icons Get a Makeover” series is above all a tribute to the models that marked its history and to the creativity of today’s designers.

Until we see a real modern Skoda 110 R, we can enjoy this beautiful virtual vision, elegant, sporty, and full of character… just like the original.
