The Tesla Model Y with 7 seats finally offered in France!

Tesla takes advantage of the Paris Motor Show to present the 7-seater version of its Model Y to the French public.

In short, this is not a huge revolution that Tesla is presenting, as this model already exists elsewhere in the world. Why not in France? Perhaps because we have a more “utilitarian” vision of the family car in our country. And it must be acknowledged that 7 seats without a trunk to put luggage in is not ideal! The legendary common sense of the French… The overall design of the Model Y remains completely unchanged in this version, and everything found inside, from the middle row forward, is also the same.

The only difference is the additional row of seats located at the back in place of the trunk, which makes the Model Y even more versatile than before. Versatile, yes, but not more comfortable as these are more like jump seats than proper seats. The width is ideal, and there are even two cup holders, but a passenger who is 1.75m tall finds their knees in their chest and has to lean their head to avoid hitting the hatchback window. However, for two children, it’s absolutely perfect!

The seats hide under the floor, which reduces trunk capacity by about 100 liters when they are folded down. This is ultimately quite little, as it essentially removes the rarely used storage space under the floor, and the trunk still shows a total volume of 720 liters, which is well above the norm. With the seven seats in place, you have 363 liters of loading space, a few liters more than a Volkswagen ID.3, and you still have the front trunk of 115 liters to complete the loading space. This is more than enough to fit the luggage needed for a long family weekend. The Model Y magic still works.

This option is priced at €2,500 and is only offered on the Long Range AWD model. A small investment for a car that already costs €51,990 and offers a real improvement in terms of comfort!
