New Tesla Model Y launched in France in May 2025?

Our small daily visit to the Tesla France website took an unexpected turn on the page of the Model Y Propulsion.

Tesla has managed to keep absolute secrecy about the second-generation Model Y, code Juniper, until today, apart from some camouflaged prototypes of which we don’t even know if they are really Tesla Model Y. Likewise for the release date. We expected it in 2024, we will see it in 2025 but when? It seems that in France, it will be in May.

Indeed, the Tesla Model Y Propulsion is now available to order for delivery in May 2025. An announcement that raises questions and fuels many speculations. So a bug or discreet preparation for a release schedule? What is certain is that with such delays, no sensible customer will choose to order one at the standard price and risk ending up with a brand-new older-generation Model Y while Juniper is announced. To purchase a current-generation Model Y, one must turn to available vehicles that benefit from a €4,000 discount, at 40,990 euros excluding bonuses, compared to the catalog price of 44,990 euros for an equivalent vehicle.

For now, the delivery times for other versions remain unchanged. The Long Range Propulsion models promise delivery from January 2025, while the Long Range All-Wheel Drive and Performance All-Wheel Drive are available from December 2024, in other words, immediately. These delays contrast sharply with the five months announced for the Model Y Propulsion, a model that, in general, takes less than 3 weeks to be delivered.

An obvious explanation seems to be: current orders now concern the Juniper Model Y Propulsion. If this is confirmed, Tesla would be playing out the same strategy as with the Model 3 Highland because, according to Chinese sources, the Shanghai Gigafactory is ready to ramp up mass production with the first deliveries in China targeted for March. Once it crosses some oceans, here they are in May in Europe. When all clues point in the same direction, it’s not excessive to speak of certainty.
