Tesla advances with the Model 2 project

Tesla’s communication surpasses everything we have known to date. To get some information about the next low-cost Tesla, one must decode… the first pages of Walter Isaacson’s biography of Elon Musk. Although the book already raises controversy, it’s not entirely to be dismissed, as Isaacson has already demonstrated great seriousness and journalistic rigor. His credentials speak for themselves. Currently heading the Aspen Institute, a leading think tank on major contemporary issues, he was CEO of CNN and editor-in-chief of Time. He became known to the general public through his famous biography of Steve Jobs.

An innovative Model 2 concept

In this work, Isaacson quotes Elon Musk regarding the Model 2. “When one of them arrives around the corner, people will think they’re seeing something from the future,” he supposedly joked. Confident in the technical value of his creations, Musk reportedly made design a top priority for this entry-level model expected to cost less than $25,000 in the United States.

The design is said to have been validated by the CEO himself, but it is still unknown whether it will be a small sedan or a compact SUV. Everything is open, and a strong stylistic similarity to the angular Cybertruck is even seriously considered. The final pencil stroke was made by Tesla’s head of design since 2008, Franz von Holzhausen, who has drawn all the company’s models. On the manufacturing side, the Model 2 will be assembled on the same line as the Robotaxi, likely in the new Mexican Gigafactory. Musk has already announced that the goal is to build the lower structure housing the batteries and chassis in a single stamping, thus significantly reducing manufacturing time and costs. We are talking about a hydraulic press of several thousand tons to replace the assembly of a few hundred parts! No manufacturer has dared this yet, but how many times have we heard that about Tesla’s new projects?
