Tesla Cybertruck tires cost a fortune!

Of unusual size, the tires of the Tesla Cybertruck are unavailable in France and will be worth a fortune even in the United States.

Every medal has its reverse side. Vehicles that stand out from the norm have their charm, but reality catches up with them. Why haven’t others dared? Perhaps because there are trivial reasons like money.

By the eccentricity of its technical specifications, with an empty weight of nearly 3.5 tons, the Tesla Cybertruck is classified in the Utility vehicle category. Unfortunately, its dimensions and weight require mechanically sized components accordingly. Starting with its tires, specifically Goodyear Wrangler Territory RT in XXL size: 285/65 R 20.

The problem is that each of these tires is worth a fortune if replaced: $470 (about 430 euros) according to Tesla’s catalog across the Atlantic, $1880 for all four (about 1730 euros). Excluding labor costs…

Another issue: the vehicle is so heavy and powerful that the lifespan of these tires is expected to be very short. Visiting the dealership to replace them will quickly become a problem. It is now well known that electric cars, being heavier, are more demanding on tires than their thermal counterparts. In the case of the Cybertruck, all limits are being pushed.
