The Renault 5 Drops to 200 Euros per Month in October!
It’s hard to speak ill of the electric Renault 5, but even though it is almost universally appreciated, it isn’t resting on its laurels.
One only needs to look at the number of fully electric Renault 5 E-Tech models displayed at the Paris Motor Show to understand that the diamond brand was right to resurrect its icon. We detailed in August the launch LLD offer at 230 Euros per month that Renault concocted, and concluded that it was strangely not much more interesting than a cash purchase. The French manufacturer has decided to revise its offer and is taking advantage of the excitement around the little chip to reduce the rent to 200 euros. So is the deal now good enough?
First of all, we are still talking about the 150 hp version with a 52 kWh battery and not the new entry-level 95 hp version with a 40 kWh battery. The duration remains fixed at 37 months and allows for a maximum of 30,000 km. 10,000 km per year is generous for a car designed for urban use, so no problem there. A pleasant surprise, the first payment goes down from 10,000 euros to 4,500 euros! Oh no, actually, this 10,000 euro down payment is simply reduced to 4,500 euros after deducting 4,000 euros of ecological bonus and 1,500 euros of conversion premium. But for that, one must still have a running clunker worth less than 1,500 Euros! Mission: Impossible.
But for the rest, nothing changes; we still have 36 payments of 230 euros reduced to 200 euros, meaning a total savings of 1,080 euros over the rental period. That may seem little, but it represents nearly 4% of the vehicle’s value, which is not negligible.
We thus have an offer valid from October 1 to 31 that does not fundamentally change the game since this Renault 5 remains an impulse purchase. But knowing that the ecological bonus might be trimmed in 2025 and that it is unlikely Renault will make another effort before the end of the year, one can consider that it’s an interesting offer even if it isn’t groundbreaking. But that’s enough for us to validate it.
