The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT shatters lap record (video)

Beyond the virtual figures of a press release, Porsche is measured by real-world records with its Taycan.

Tesla is the champion of highway acceleration, Porsche of cornering agility. This is a learning acquired through competition where the American manufacturer refuses to step onto the track, fearing confrontation with rivals who learn quickly. Proof of this is the exercise carried out by Porsche with its Taycan Turbo GT on the Brazilian Interlagos circuit, located near São Paulo.

Faster than the best thermal Porsche!

With a lap time of 1’42″1 to cover the 4.3 km of the Brazilian track, the lap time dropped by nearly 8 seconds compared to the previous record… already held by a Porsche Taycan. That was a Turbo S set in 2022 with a time of 1’49″8, against the entirely new Turbo GT equipped with the Weissach pack now.

This new Porsche Taycan, priced at 246,538 euros in France (March 2025), offers up to 1,034 horsepower (760 kW) transmitted to all four wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 2.2 seconds. As for the Weissach pack, it results in a weight saving of 75 kg compared to the ‘civilized’ Turbo GT version.

The performance of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is even greater as it beat the record by a second faster than another Porsche, a legendary one: the 911 Turbo S. Its record was then 1’43″087!

The wheel of change is in motion, and this is only the beginning.
