The Porsche Taycan increases its range to 587 km!

Porsche has unveiled a highly improved version of its electric sedan, the Taycan, with a significant increase in range to nearly 600 km.

This is THE big announcement that Taycan customers have been waiting for. Praised for performance and build quality, the Porsche electric car’s one major flaw—central to its commercial success—was, unfortunately, its range.

The new Taycan introduces a new energy management system, providing a real-world driving range of 587 km. The demonstration was carried out between the American cities of Los Angeles and San Diego on a single charge and in traffic.

During this real-world test, drivers scrupulously obeyed speed limits, specifically the 75 mph (about 120 km/h) allowed on the Interstates they traveled on.

Nothing to envy from Tesla anymore

However, it should be noted that this performance was achieved by a pre-production Taycan equipped with the large Performance Plus battery. The model in question is the entry-level version (326 hp), with rear-wheel drive and 19-inch wheels. At the same time, a Taycan 4S (435 hp) with 21-inch wheels managed to cover 512 km without stopping, and similarly, a Turbo version (625 hp) reached 555 km.

For comparison, the current Porsche Taycan is rated for 444 km, which translates to less than 300 km on the highway in real-world conditions. The progress is therefore remarkable. The 4S is rated at 454 km, and the Turbo at 507 km.

Thanks to the Porsche Macan?

Besides improved energy management, the new Porsche Taycan can also recharge much faster than before. It was not considered slow in this regard, but in real conditions, it accepted up to 300 kW during long charging sessions, allowing it to recover from 10 to 80% in less than 20 minutes.

The Taycan benefits from all the technological advances developed for the new Macan SUV. Following the lap record set at Nordschleife, Porsche is on a roll.

Just a little more patience: the new Taycan will be officially unveiled in the coming days.
