Polestar 3 Achieves 5-Star Euro NCAP Rating, Setting New Standards for Child Protection

Polestar 3 received the highly coveted five-star rating in the latest tests conducted by the independent organization Euro NCAP. The Chinese-Swedish vehicle achieved an overall score of 87%, covering four categories: adult occupant protection, child protection, vulnerable road user protection, and safety assistance systems.

Euro NCAP Program, which has been assessing vehicle safety since 1997, only grants its five-star rating to models demonstrating exceptional performance in collision protection and equipped with the most advanced accident prevention technologies. This last point is highly debated because it includes the latest ADAS, driver assistance systems, which are often too intrusive and thus disconnected by drivers.

Polestar and Volvo’s Heritage

Polestar 3 benefits from a safety DNA shared with Volvo and incorporates the latest structural innovations and driver assistance systems. Essential devices such as post-impact braking and direct emergency assistance guarantee occupant safety, while the driver monitoring system allows reaction in case of fatigue or malaise. An array of sensors, cameras, and radars ensures increased vigilance to prevent incidents.

But it is not on this debated point that the Polestar 3 stands out the most. Among its remarkable results, it scored 93% for child protection—the best rating recorded by a passenger car tested by Euro NCAP in the past nine years. Adult occupant protection also achieved an impressive 90%, while advanced safety systems were rated at 83%, and vulnerable road user protection at 79%.
