The new Tesla Model Y delivered earlier than expected?

Tesla seems to be preparing a nice surprise for its customers with early deliveries of its new Model Y “Launch Series”.

Customers who paid a premium to be among the first to take possession of a new generation Tesla Model Y certainly deserve a little gift from the manufacturer. During the presentation of the new Model Y at the end of January, Tesla announced that the first deliveries of this revamped electric crossover would begin in March. However, recent posts on social media suggest that the brand may advance this timeline.

Tesla unveiled the new Model Y in the United States and Europe shortly after its launch in China and other Asia-Pacific regions supplied by the Giga Shanghai factory. Since then, the manufacturer has maintained that the first deliveries would begin in March in all major markets and April for secondary markets.

Tesla accelerates production

However, some European buyers of the new Model Y are reporting on social media that Tesla may bring forward the first deliveries. According to these posts, some customers have been informed that their vehicle could be delivered as early as February and that Tesla has already assigned them a serial number (VIN).

The new Model Y is already in production at several Tesla factories, including Giga Shanghai, Fremont, Giga Texas, and Giga Berlin. This global strategy allows the company to quickly respond to increasing demand. The low sales in December and January certainly motivated the manufacturer to ramp up its production lines to get ahead of initial sales and improve cash flow.

This is not the first time Tesla has outperformed its forecasts. The first-generation Model Y, presented in March 2019 by Elon Musk, was initially expected to be delivered in the fall of 2020. However, the first deliveries began as early as March 2020.
