The Hyundai INSTER gets a rugged upgrade with a Cross version

In order to strengthen its character, the new cubic and electric city car Hyundai Inster now offers a Cross version with an adventurous look.

To be completely honest, we are concerned about the Hyundai INSTER‘s ability to convince in Europe. First, because its design, although subjective, is very divisive. Secondly, because its prices are far from competitive with a starting price set at 25,000 euros in France. This is the price of the new Renault 5… except that the South Korean brand does not qualify for the ecological bonus. This skews the competition.

With its design and technical specifications, the Hyundai INSTER seems to compete more with the new Dacia Spring. A 42 kWh battery, 327 km of range, 71 kW (97 horsepower), and 0 to 100 km/h in 11.7 seconds make it a true city car for everyday needs. The standard equipment is really generous, but it does not distract from the starting price:

INSTER Cross, an added dimension

To add a welcome dose of character, Hyundai will soon be launching an adventurous version. Unfortunately, it is likely to be very expensive, well above 30,000 euros. What about the relevance once again?

The INSTER Cross will feature wide, rectangular front and rear bumpers, enhancing its adventurous spirit, along with textured black plastic protections. Front and rear skid plates, combined with side skirts and 17-inch alloy wheels, will provide increased safety during journeys on rough terrains. Standard, roof bars will be included, ideal for carrying the necessary equipment for daily activities, outdoor sports, or camping trips. This crossover model will be available in an exclusive color, Amazonas Green Matte, as well as in five other colors for the INSTER, some offered with a bi-color black roof: Atlas White, Natural Ivory, Aero Silver Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, and Jungle Khaki.

Like the luxurious Creative version, the INSTER Cross will benefit from the larger 49 kWh battery. With a maximum range of 359 kilometers, it can be charged from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes. The INSTER Cross is also equipped with a state-of-the-art ADAS suite, offering technologies such as highway driving assistance 1.5, adaptive cruise control, and the front collision avoidance assistance system 1.5. The interior is designed for flexibility: all seats can fold flat, access to the front row is unobstructed, and the second-row seats, divided into two equal parts, can both slide and recline for more comfort and practicality.

Production of the INSTER Cross is set to begin later this year at the Hyundai plant in Korea.
