We know the name of the future electric Jaguar!

The future 100% electric four-door sedan, officially named Jaguar Type 01, is entering its final testing phase.

As part of an unprecedented development program, the first prototypes of the Jaguar Type 01 are currently subjected to extreme thermal conditions reaching –40 °C. These tests on frozen lakes complement a rigorous validation cycle that includes trials in desert areas and intensive virtual simulations.

More than 1,000 hp

Technically, this GT is positioned as the most powerful series production Jaguar in history. It features a tri-motor powertrain developing over 1,000 hp, combined with an all-wheel drive system with active torque distribution. The chassis architecture is built on cutting-edge technologies:

• Dynamic air suspension and active double-valve shock absorbers.
• Integral steering to optimize agility and precision.
• 23-inch tire developed specifically for winter conditions.

One of the major challenges of these Arctic tests lies in the validation of the ThermAssist system. This proprietary thermal management technology aims to reduce energy consumption related to cabin heating by up to 40%. The system allows for the recovery of heat from the powertrain to maintain range and comfort, even at temperatures below –10 °C.

A positioning “Exuberant Modernism”

Inspired by the new design philosophy of the brand, the electric Jaguar Type 01 marks a significant stylistic break. According to Matt Becker, vehicle engineering director at JLR, the goal is to combine the performance of a luxury grand tourer with the responsiveness typical of high-performance electric vehicles.
