Skoda’s Electric Surprise at the Tour de France

On the occasion of the last stage of the 2024 Tour de France, Skoda unveiled the Elroq, its future compact 100% electric SUV.

Skoda was the automotive partner of the Tour de France for the 21st edition this year, and this partnership has already been extended until 2028. It was therefore natural to see a camouflaged version of the manufacturer’s future 100% electric SUV evolve in Nice, on the course of the time trial of the last stage of the 111th edition of the Tour. This model will only be officially presented in the fall, certainly at the Paris Motor Show where the Czech brand has confirmed its presence. This is much more than a new model for the Czech manufacturer as this new compact SUV is the first Skoda to adopt the “Modern Solid” design, which is meant to be the stylistic signature of all new models. This new identity was introduced by Skoda on the Vision 7S concept.

Skoda loves to circle the question

Skoda is omnipresent in the grand loop since the crystal trophies awarded to the winner of the general classification, to the winners of the Green Jersey and Polka Dot Jersey, and to the best young rider for 14 years have been creations by Skoda Design, standing 60 cm tall and weighing 5 kg. Moreover, Skoda has been the sponsor of the Green Jersey for the best sprinter for ten years.

A loop closes for Skoda, but a new one opens for the fleet of red cars for the organization, with Enyaq 100% electric vehicles and a Superb Combi plug-in hybrid for Race Director Christian Prudhomme. Skoda has been supporting the Women’s Tour de France since 2022. The women’s race, consisting of eight stages, will start on August 12 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and conclude on August 18 at Alpe d’Huez.
