The BYD Dolphin Fully Electric Arrives in Europe

The Chinese firm releases its new 100% electric vehicle called the Dolphin, referencing the dolphin.

Known for being the world’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles and batteries, BYD announces the release of its new electric vehicle for the European market.

V2L (Vehicle to Lead)

The Dolphin is equipped with V2L, better known as vehicle to lead. This innovation, already present in many vehicles, allows the car’s battery to charge external devices.

The 88 kW DC charger can recharge the battery from 30% to 80% in 29 minutes. The 60.4 kWh battery provides a range of 427 km. The Dolphin can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds thanks to its 204 hp/150 kW motor, and can reach a top speed of 160 km/h.

Small in size, but large in capacity

This BYD Dolphin measures 4.29 meters in length, 1.77 meters in width with mirrors folded, and 1.50 meters in height. The trunk capacity is very large, starting at 345 liters but can be expanded to 1,310 liters when the 60/40 split seats are folded, effectively tripling the trunk space. The car features 20 small storage compartments.

Four different finishes

The BYD DOLPHIN is available in four finishes: Active, Boost, Comfort, and Design.

BYD DOLPHIN Active: 44.9 kWh battery with 70 kW (95 hp). This version can be charged via AC up to 7 kW and DC up to 60 kW. Price: 28,990 euros.

BYD DOLPHIN Boost: 44.9 kWh battery with 130 kW (176 hp). Features 17-inch wheels and multi-link rear suspension. Price: 29,990 euros.

BYD DOLPHIN Comfort: 60.4 kWh battery with 150 kW (204 hp). Claimed range of 427 kilometers with a consumption of 15.9 kWh/100 km. DC charging remains at 88 kW (from 30 to 80% in 29 minutes), but AC charging maxes out at 11 kW. Price: 33,990 euros.

BYD DOLPHIN Design: Same technical specifications as Comfort, but additionally features a panoramic roof, VtoL power block, rear window protection glass, and wireless phone charging. Price: 35,990 euros.
