Tesla Model S and X: Greater Range, but Aging Models
The Tesla Model S and Model X are once again available to order in France in refreshed versions.
This October marks the official return of these two iconic models, which have embodied the high-end craftsmanship of the American manufacturer for over a decade. But while Tesla continues to refine them, the recipe is becoming quite well known.
Externally, the tweaks are subtle: new front and rear panels, new wheels (up to 22 inches for the Model X), and the introduction of a “Frost Blue” color. Nothing spectacular, but everything is designed to optimize aerodynamics and thus efficiency. Inside, efforts focus on comfort: improved sound insulation, absorbent materials, and a revised active noise cancelation system. The air suspension has been recalibrated, while dynamic ambient lighting and adaptive headlights modernize the overall look.
In terms of performance, the manufacturer remains true to its DNA: the Model S still accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds (2.1 seconds for the Plaid), but now with greater range. It now claims up to 744 km WLTP, compared to 652 km previously. The Model X, for its part, reaches 649 km, or 609 km in its Plaid version.

But while the numbers are still impressive, the calendar starts to weigh on. The Model S celebrated its tenth anniversary, and even though Tesla updates it regularly, it is based on a technical platform that dates back to another era of electric vehicles. With prices still exceeding €110,000, these refreshed versions now face much fresher European competition. With their complete renewal of premium electric ranges underway, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi can sleep peacefully: Tesla is refining, but no longer revolutionizing.
