Tesla Model 3 and Y: Prices Soar Again in June 2022

Following inflation, Tesla Model 3 and Model Y prices increase by an average of €2,000, now starting at €53,490 for the entry-level version.

If fuel prices soar at the pump, electric vehicle prices are also on the rise. If you want to buy a new electric car, prices have been trending upward in recent months. Even the Renault ZOE model 2022 is affected. But Tesla has already changed its prices several times in this game.

Nearly +€10,000 in 6 months for the Tesla Model 3

Since the beginning of 2022, the Tesla Model 3 is no longer as attractive as before. The days when the electric sedan was priced under €45,000 (exactly €43,800) with a €6,000 bonus are a distant memory. Following the last price surge in May, it has been climbing again in recent days. The increase amounts to €2,500 across the Propulsion and Long Range versions.

The first, with rear-wheel drive and 510 km of range, now starts at €53,490 excluding the current bonus of €2,000 (or €1,000 after June 30). With these cumulative increases, the Model 3 approaches an additional cost of €10,000 in 6 months, an inflation of 22%!

For a 36-month lease (and 10,000 km), the official website states 515 km/month, with a down payment of €11,900. The second version, with all-wheel drive, sees its range jump to 626 km with the larger battery. Without any available bonus, it is listed at €62,490. Both variants currently have endless delivery delays. Expect at least April 2023 to receive your vehicle!

Finally, the third configuration, the Model 3 Performance, adds only “€1,500”. At best, you’ll sign a check for €66,490. With improved performance, this variant’s range decreases to 547 km. However, it offers shorter availability, estimated between October and December 2022.

+€2,000 to €3,000 for the Tesla Model Y

The base Model Y Long Range is becoming less and less accessible. This version offers 565 kilometers WLTP range (533 km on 20-inch wheels as an option). Launched in France in 2021 at €59,990, it quickly rose to €62,990. Now, the American SUV starts at €64,990, or €768/month on a 36-month/10,000 km lease.

As for the higher-end Tesla Model Y Performance – with 514 km of range – the increase is also on the agenda. The SUV bumps up by €3,000 to reach a final price of €69,990. It’s essentially a return to the starting point. Tesla France’s initial prices in 2020 listed the electric SUV at €70,000.

Today produced in Germany at Giga Berlin factory, the Model Y has more reasonable delivery times than the Tesla Model 3. Orders for Performance versions are expected between October and December 2022, and a month longer for Long Range.
