The small urban electric SUV from BYD is officially launched in Europe with two trims and a very European price.
The BYD Atto 2 is a well-known model in China under the name Yuan Up. In France, it positions itself between the compact Dolphin and the crossover Atto 3. This small SUV is built on the modular e-Platform 3.0 architecture and stands out with a rugged design featuring a high hood and plastic protections at the lower part of the bodywork. It could easily be imagined tackling some off-road adventures! However, its style remains very urban with a floating roof effect and the Dragon Face stylistic language with tapered headlights. The rear lights display a Chinese knot pattern, which BYD describes as a Möbius symbol, symbolizing infinite luck. Four body colors are available: green, gray, white, and black.

Measuring 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm, the Atto 2 offers a trunk capacity of 400 liters, expandable to 1,340 liters with the rear seats folded down. Slightly smaller than a Peugeot e-2008, its dimensions are very similar, but it boasts a higher loading capacity, strangely close to that of the Atto 3. Inside, it features a floating touchscreen of 10.1 or 12.8 inches, an 8.8-inch LCD dashboard, vegan leather seats that are electrically adjustable and heated in the higher trim. A panoramic roof enhances the interior. A true mini Atto 3 that may very well overshadow the updated version of the latter!
Pure BYD, no fuss, but no missteps
Regarding the powertrain, the Atto 2 is equipped with a single electric motor delivering 130 kW (174 hp) and 290 Nm of torque, enabling it to reach 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h. Its 45.12 kWh LFP battery offers a range of 312 km in WLTP cycle and supports fast DC charging of 65 kW, allowing it to go from 30% to 80% in 28 minutes. It is clearly not a tech monster, and once again the best electric versions of BYD are reserved for the Asian market.

The BYD Atto 2 comes in two trims: Active with 17-inch wheels, a 10.1-inch screen, rear sensors, six airbags, and Boost which adds a 12.8-inch screen, ambient lighting, heated seats, and a 360° camera.
In China, the Yuan Up price ranges between 96,800 and 119,800 yuan, which is roughly between €12,500 and €15,500. BUD France has not yet revealed the prices for the French market, but crossing the Pyrenees gives an idea since the model is already offered in Spain at an entry price of 29,900 euros. Double the Chinese price, not surprisingly, but still an interesting price considering its features.
