Skyworth, is it worth it?

The Chinese automotive manufacturer Skyworth has unveiled its range intended for the French market at the Paris Motor Show.

Are you not yet familiar with Skyworth? That’s quite normal. This group was founded in 1988 in China by Stephen Wong. Listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, Skyworth is a significant player in global electronics, including connected home appliances (TVs, washing machines, refrigerators), smart systems (connected gates, virtual reality), photovoltaic panels, and third-party services. In 2010, Skyworth established its division dedicated to vehicles, named “Skywell.” After proving its capabilities in electric passenger cars, people transport, and handling vehicles, Skywell presented its first range of electric cars aimed at the general public in 2020.

Four models will soon arrive on the French market. The Model K, a large SUV measuring 4698 x 1908 x 1696 mm, offers excellent interior space and a trunk capacity ranging from 467 to 1147 liters. The Skyworth Y model, an elegant sedan with a sporty style, will delight fans of modern-looking cars with its unconventional doors, camera mirrors, integrated door handles, and aerodynamic wheels to maximize performance. The compact Q with a hatchback design, and finally, the utility vehicle Hongtu available in 6 body styles ranging from 4990 to 5990 mm.

Currently, only the K model appears truly ready to hit the road, and unfortunately, it is not the most interesting model in the range or the best suited for the French market. But starting at 39,900 euros, it is far from uninteresting for those who want to drive something different! Seeing a player of this magnitude ready to invest in the old continent is good news for consumers… a bit less so for European manufacturers!
