Skoda has probably just unveiled its best car

Historically well positioned in terms of price and features, the Skoda Octavia offers a 4×4 version with 204 horsepower.

It is often repeated, but the Škoda Octavia is one of the most relevant cars in history. Features, price, trunk capacity, rear legroom, finish, equipment, everything is successful. So, to drive the point home, the Czech manufacturer is today presenting an update of its bestseller, the Octavia 4×4. Now offering even more power, optimized all-wheel drive, and a consistently well-crafted design, this version is aimed at those looking for a versatile, high-performing sedan or station wagon adapted to challenging conditions.

Under the hood, the new Škoda Octavia 4×4 is equipped with a 2.0 TSI engine developing 150 kW (204 hp), a gain of 10 kW (14 hp) compared to the previous generation. With a torque of 320 Nm, this gasoline engine offers brisk acceleration and great flexibility, perfectly utilized by the seven-speed DSG transmission.

Performance is on point: 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds for the sedan (6.7 seconds for the station wagon) and a top speed of 228 km/h.

Thanks to intelligent technical adjustments, including an adjustable compression ratio at low load, Škoda promises a reduction in fuel consumption, which should translate into improved range for long journeys.

Intelligent All-Wheel Drive

The Skoda Octavia 4×4 stands out with its advanced all-wheel drive system, designed to optimize traction in all conditions. An electrohydraulic multi-disc inter-axle clutch continuously monitors driving conditions and can send up to 100% of the torque to the rear when needed.

Under normal conditions, the transmission distributes power up to 50:50 between the front and rear axles, ensuring optimal traction. The EDS and XDS systems enhance this stability by electronically adjusting the torque distribution to avoid any excessive wheelspin.

Thanks to this optimized transmission, the Skoda Octavia 4×4 also improves its towing capacity, reaching up to 1,900 kg with a braked trailer, making it an excellent option for caravan or boat owners.

A Sharpened Chassis, Exemplary Road Holding

Škoda has worked on the driving dynamics of the Octavia 4×4 with a multi-link rear suspension that allows for better handling of road irregularities and improved stability in corners. This setup offers an excellent balance between agility and comfort, whether on the highway, winding roads, or in difficult winter conditions.

For those who want to go even further in customization, adaptive driving modes are available, allowing adjustment of engine response, steering, and transmission behavior based on driver preferences.

Maximum Driving Pleasure

The updated Skoda Octavia 4×4 is available with several trim levels, ranging from the Essence to the Sportline version, including the luxurious Loft, Lodge, Lounge, and Suite packs.

Inside, there’s the digital cockpit Škoda, a central touchscreen with the latest infotainment features, and advanced connectivity with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. High-end finishes boast premium materials, customizable ambient lighting, and numerous driver assistance features, such as Travel Assist that combines adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance.

Orders for the new Škoda Octavia 4×4 are already open, with deliveries expected in the coming weeks.
