Skoda Elroq

Skoda reveals some sketches of the Elroq, its first production model to adopt the Modern Solid design language.

Ambitious 100% electric SUV, Elroq is the first model in the Skoda range to adopt the “Modern Solid” style that will guide the brand’s upcoming creations.

The new front end features a Skoda lettering positioned high, almost level with a slim light strip that overlooks integrated Matrix-LED headlights within a particularly robust-looking bumper. The rear of the Elroq is more traditional, with a massive roof spoiler and LED taillights. A Dark Chrome color is chosen for the Skoda letters at the front and rear, as well as on the logo that adorns the central caps of the alloy wheels.

Interior space is not neglected, with practical and square volumes. Skoda announces a trunk capacity of 470 liters which can be extended to 1,580 liters by folding down the rear bench. There are 48 liters of small miscellaneous storage scattered throughout the cabin with several smart compartments. The rear shelf is adjustable to provide flexible use of the rear loading space. All this in a vehicle that is about 4.50 meters long.

The Elroq is built on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform of the Volkswagen Group and will be offered with four powertrain variants: the Elroq 50, 60, 85, and 85x. The entry-level Elroq 50 features rear-wheel drive with 170 hp (125 kW) and a 55 kWh battery. The Elroq 60 is equipped with a 63 kWh battery and a 150 kW electric motor. The Elroq 85 and Elroq 85x variants are fitted with the same 82 kWh battery but offer two drive modes. The rear-wheel drive Elroq 85 has a peak power of 285 hp (210 kW), which should give it a rather playful character. The Elroq 85x incorporates an additional electric motor on the front axle, thus providing all-wheel drive as standard and a peak power of 300 hp (220 kW). The range of these two high-end versions is reported to exceed 560 kilometers.
