On December 9th, Rivian opened the doors of the Rivian South Coast Theater, its first flagship in Southern California.

Located at 162 South Coast Highway, just 15 miles from Rivian’s headquarters in Irvine, this theater first opened in 1935 under the name New Lynn Theater. The original features of the site that have been preserved and restored include the marquee, ticket office, entrance hall, balcony, auditorium, front-stage arch, and the original 129-seat theater. After working closely with conservationists and community leaders throughout the restoration, Rivian applied for the site to be designated as a historic landmark, which led to the theater being added to the National Register of Historic Places in March 2023.
