The Porsche Macan inherits the GTS badge

Porsche launches with the Macan GTS the very first GTS version of a 100% electric SUV. Sacrilege?

Since the 904 Carrera GTS of 1963, the GTS badge at Porsche has been associated with sporty models, focused on performance and driving pleasure. After decades of versions on the 911, Cayman, and Panamera, the Macan GTS becomes the first fully electric SUV to bear this emblem. Enough to put some Stuttgart enthusiasts in a tough spot, but let’s give this high-riding Porsche a chance.

The Macan GTS features an electric powertrain delivering up to 571 hp (420 kW) in Overboost mode, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaching a top speed limited to 250 km/h. The 100 kWh battery offers a combined WLTP range of 586 km and can charge from 10 to 80% in 21 minutes on a 270 kW fast charger. The Track Endurance mode, inherited from the Taycan, optimizes battery cooling to maintain performance during sustained driving.

The driving dynamics rely on a lowered sport air suspension by 10 mm, an electronically controlled rear differential, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). The slightly rear-biased weight distribution and the option of rear-wheel steering contribute to the vehicle’s agility.

The Macan GTS also stands out with its specific exterior design, including black accents, tinted Matrix LED headlights, and redesigned side skirts. Three new colors are available: Chalk, Carmine Red, and Lugano Blue, along with many other options via the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur program.

The interior features Race-Tex and leather upholstery, with an optional GTS package matching stitching, seat belts, and “GTS” lettering in body color. Technological equipment includes a digital key, updated driving assistance systems, an AI-based voice assistant, and timing functions via the standard Sport Chrono package.

A significant boost for Porsche’s electric lineup, and its legitimacy… Let’s acknowledge that it respects an origin that combines performance and practicality.
